How Do I Watch Viki on Roku?

The Viki channel is available on Roku in selected regions. Learn about our supported Roku devices and minimum OS requirements here.

Why is Viki not available on Roku in my country?

Due to limitations on Roku's billing platform, the Viki channel is not available in all regions. While we're always looking for ways to improve the community's experience on Viki, we cannot control which regions Roku extends its services and support to.

The following is a list of selected countries where the Viki Channel is available:

If you're located in any of the countries listed above, you can add the Viki channel to your Roku device.

  How Do I Add the Viki Channel on Roku?

Adding the Viki channel to your Roku device:

  1.   Press the Home button home on your Roku remote.
  2.   Scroll up or down and select Streaming Channels to open the Channel Store.
  3.   Enter Viki in the Search Channels box to find the Viki app.
  4.   Select Add Channel to install the Viki channel on your Roku device.

Once downloaded, the Viki channel will be added to the list of channels under Home on the main screen. Scroll down and you will see the Viki channel at the bottom of the list. If you prefer, the channel can be moved higher on the list.

If you're unable to find the Search function on Roku, you can also head to my.roku.com and add the Viki channel there.

  How Do I Create a Viki Account on Roku?

From the Viki launch page:

  1. Select Create Account.
  2. Choose between Continue with Roku Account or Continue with your email
    1. Continue with Roku Account- your Viki account will be linked to your Roku account
    2. Continue with your email - your Viki account will be linked to the email address of your choice
  3. Check or uncheck the option to receive updates, special offers and marketing promotions via email from Viki.
  4. Select Confirm.
  5. Verify your account by following the steps found here: How do I verify my Email?
  Setting a password on Roku would require using at least 1 of these special characters: #$%&'*+-/=?^_`{|}~

How Do I Log in to My Account on the Viki Channel on Roku?

Log in via Email & Password Login:

  1. Open the Viki channel.
  2. Click on Log in now.
  3. Enter the Email and password you usually use to log in to Viki on your computer or mobile device.Email_ 1.jpg
  4. Click on Log in.
  How Do I Set a PIN Code for Age-Restricted Content?

Logging in to the Viki app on your Roku will now require you to set a 4-digit PIN code to access shows on Viki with an age restricted rating ("U/A 13+", "U/A 16+", "NC-17", "A18", "18", "R18+", "18+", "A", and "R"), ratings can change depending on the region. This will occur every time you log into your Viki account. 

Follow the steps below to set your 4-digit PIN:

  1. Log in to your Viki account.
  2. Key in  a 4-digit numerical PIN code of your choice (this can be changed every time you log in).

  3. Confirm your 4-digit PIN code.
  4. Once set, you will need to use this PIN code every time you would like to view an age-restricted show on Viki on Roku.

To reset PIN:

  1. Log out of your Viki account.
  2. Log back into your Viki account.
  3. Set 4-digit PIN code.
  4. Confirm PIN code.
  The 4-digit PIN code will be the same as long as you remain logged in to your Viki account. However, once logged out, you will be required to set and confirm this pin code again.  
  How Do I Change My Subtitle Settings?

How Do I Turn Subtitles On/Off?

There are two ways to turn the subtitles on or off. You can do this by visiting the Roku device settings and within the app.

On the Roku Device Main Menu:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. To open the captions menu, select Accessibility. If Accessibility is not listed, select Captions.
  3. Select Captions Mode.
  4. Choose between <Off>, <On> and <On Replay>.

Within the Viki app:

  1. Go to the video.
  2. Once it starts, press * (asterisk). 
  3. The video will pause and a pop-up menu will appear.
  4. Choose between <Off>, <On> and <On Replay>.
  5. Set the language preferred from the Closed Captioning option.
  On Replay will only show subtitles when you press the replay button on your remote. Use this option if you feel comfortable with the video audio language. You can use the replay button and the last 10 seconds will replay with subtitles. After you turn subtitles on or off, the setting will remain. You will not have to turn them on or off again.

  Basic Troubleshooting 
  1.   Log out of your Viki account.
      • On the sidebar panel, go to Settings.
      • Select Log Out.
  2.   Uninstall the Viki channel.
      • Learn how to do this here.
  3.   Re-install the Viki channel.
      • Learn how to do this here.
  4.   Restart your Roku device.
      • To restart your Roku player, go to Settings > System > System restart. To restart your Roku TV, go to Settings > System > Power > System restart. You can also unplug the Roku device from the power source, wait a few moments, and then reconnect it.
  5.   Log back into your Viki account by following the steps here.
  Video quality of Kocowa-licensed content for older Roku devices

Due to playback compatibility issues between older Roku models and DRM-protected videos, Kocowa-licensed titles are unavailable for HD viewing on specific Roku devices.

  Kocowa-licensed titles can be identified when a 'Kocowa' word is shown on the screen before the actual video plays. These licensed titles are protected under Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Standard definition (up to 480p)

  • Roku LT (2400X, 2450X, 2700X)
  • Roku HD (2500X)
  • Roku 1 / Roku SE (2710X)
  • Roku 2 (2720X)
  • Roku 2 HD (3000X, 3050X)
  • Roku 2 XS (3100X)
  • Roku Streaming Stick (3400X, 3420X)

High definition (up to 720p)

  • Roku Streaming Stick (3500X, 3600X)
  • Roku Express (3700X)
  • Roku Express Plus (3710X)
  • Roku 2 (4210X)
  • Roku 3 (4200X, 4230X) 
 To check the model of your Roku device, go to your Roku Homepage >> Settings >> System >> About. For 1080p HD resolution of Kocowa-licensed content on the Viki channel, you will need the latest Roku players in the market. You can view Kocowa-licensed content in HD with a Viki Pass subscription. 
  Ceased Support for Roku Legacy Models

Following Roku’s updated requirements, Viki will no longer support Roku Legacy models.
