How do I disable Ad blockers on Viki?

Advertisements help us cover the cost of licensing shows and provide some content that is free to watch.

However, there are many browser extensions and built-in functions that can cause videos to fail on Viki.com. The following are some common ways to disable adblockers and watch without the error message.

Disabling ad-block extensions

Adblocker
  1. Open a browser that has AdBlocker installed 
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. Click on the AdBlocker icon. The icon will be in the upper-right corner of your browser, to the right of your address bar.
  4. Click on "Don't run on pages on this site" to disable AdBlocker.
  5. A pop-up will appear to confirm the changes. Ensure that the 'Reload the page' checkbox is selected and click on the red 'Exclude' button.

On Safari, the AdBlocker icon will show up to the left of your browser's address bar by default. 
Adblock
  1. Open a browser that has AdBlock installed 
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. Click on the AdBlock icon. The icon will be in the upper-right corner of your browser, to the right of your address bar.
  4. Click on "Don't run on pages on this site" to disable AdBlock.
  5. A pop-up will appear to confirm the changes. Ensure that the 'Reload the page' checkbox is selected and click on the red 'Exclude' button.

Adblock Plus
  1. In AdBlock Plus, you will see "Block ads on" when visiting Viki. "Viki.com" will appear under this.
  2. Slide the power button to the left to disable AdBlock Plus.
  3. Select "I've turned off my ad blocker" on the video screen to complete the process.

AdGuard AdBlocker
  1. Open a browser that has AdGuard AdBlocker installed 
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. Click on the AdGuard AdBlocker icon. The icon will be in the upper-right corner of your browser, to the right of your address bar.
  4. Click on the toggle next to "Protection on this website" to disable AdGuard AdBlocker from running on videos.
  5. Select "I've turned off my ad blocker" on the video screen to complete the process.

uBlock Origin
  1. Open a browser that has uBlock Origin installed 
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. Click on the uBlock Origin icon. The icon will be in the upper-right corner of your browser, to the right of your address bar.
  4. Click on the big blue "power" icon to disable uBlock Origin from running on videos.
  5. Select "I've turned off my ad blocker" on the video screen to complete the process.

Adjusting built-in ad-blockers and tracking protection on browsers

  The tutorials below are for macOS. If you are using Windows PC, the interfaces will look slightly different but the processes are similar.
Firefox
  1. Open your Firefox browser
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. To the left of the browser address bar, click on the shield icon 
  4. Disable the Enhanced Tracking Protection feature for Viki.com
  5. The page will reload to reflect the new settings

Google Chrome

Open your Google Chrome browser and adjust your browser settings with either of the following:

Add Viki.com to the list of sites that allow ads

  1. Go to Viki.com
  2. To the left of the browser address bar, click Lock Lock or Info Info
  3. Click on Site settings
  4. Select 'Allow' on the dropdown next to Ads
  5. Reload the page on Viki.com for the changes to take effect

Turn off the ad blocker

  1. At the top right of your browser, select More Moreand then Settings
  2. Under "Privacy and security," select Site Settings
  3. Under "Additional content settings," select Ads
  4. Select All sites can show any ads to you   
Microsoft Edge
  1. Open your Microsoft Edge browser
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. To the left of the browser address bar, click on the lock icon
  4. Disable the Tracking Prevention feature
  5. Click on 'Permissions for this site' to bring up the settings for Viki.com
  6. Select 'Allow' on the dropdown next to Ads
  7. Refresh the page on Viki.com for the changes to take effect

Opera
  1. Open the Opera browser
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. To the right of the browser address bar, click on the shield icon 
  4. Turn off the ad blocker and tracker blocker functions for Viki.com
  5. The page will reload after a change in each setting has been made

Safari
  1. Open the Safari browser
  2. Go to Viki.com
  3. Right-click on the browser address bar
  4. Click on Settings for viki.com
  5. Uncheck the box next to Enable content blockers
  6. The page will reload to reflect the new settings
