I agree with the auto stop, also there should be a way to switch between video views i think the new video view gives you the experience of being in the movie theater but not everyone likes that view. Also i like my subtitles to be small enough to actually see what i'm watching don't get me wrong but some times they take up close to half the screen and i have the subtitles on the smallest settings that are there and i change the look but sadly nothing was improved. Hopefully this doesn't sound like a rant just some helpful little details :)
I'm sorry to say that the new video view totally messed up my screen. I like having the comments turned on (they are fun to follow while watching the video) but as it is now all the various texts cover half off the screen: that is if i have the comments on (upper right) and subtitles (down under) I barely see the video. Please have mercy and give me the option to see the videos as they were before!
I do wish the new player was optional, I don't find it bad but it messes up my screen and since both layout exsist it would be awesome if we could chose.
On the contrary, I do love the autoplay function, and it would be great if that was an option instead of completely removing it from the new player like it is currently.
Ugggh! Ever since I was forced to use the new player, my videos keep buffering forever, the sound disappears. Clearing cookies, restarting the browser and logging out and back in doesn't help. This problem exists in both Chrome for Mac and Safari. I can no longer use the web version of Viki and have to watch content on my phone app now.
Also, I agree with others that comments now take way too much screen space, I liked the way they used to be tucked in the top left corner.
I'm not sure I like the new player either, I don't use the comments as the video is playing so I can't say whether I like that or not, I haven't figured out how to make it small so I could comment on each episode like it used to underneath or has that gone away, that you can't comment on the episode afterwards. I also don't like to have the autoplay on I used to have it turned off because I do like to comment once in awhile on the episode. So this gave me time to make comments and read others comments. Maybe I need to play around with it more to get it to work.
I saw an admin response on the community page that said the threads that get the most up-votes in the ideas forum (here) are the ones the company looks at. So every time you see someone who wants the same features you want (ditch new player, bring back comments section on each individual episode page, etc), then up-vote that post!
The new player is terrible. I never liked the timed comments on the screen but I did use the discus comments section on the individual episode pages and am extremely upset at losing them.
