[Solved] Progress is not saving, watched videos not appearing in continue watching

Multiple people have posted with this same issue over the past few weeks, but Viki closes the threads without providing an explanation. I am a paid subscriber. I only watch videos using Chrome browser on one laptop (Macbook Pro 2019). Recently, my video progress stopped saving. In addition to that, I watched a video that I had never seen before and it did not show up in Continue Watching. 

I've already tried the usual things like clearing cache, logging out and back in, not using an ad blocker.

Can you please reply to this thread with an explanation of the problem, and when it will be fixed? It is an issue with the service, not with anything I am doing. (I would prefer to just know that Viki acknowledges the bug, instead of doing private troubleshooting that won't work.)

    Hi everyone,

    Our engineers have gotten back to us and the issue with the Continue Watching feature has been completed. Please try to log out and log back in before trying again.

  • I watch viki on my smart tv over roku.

    recently viki continue watching does not remember where I left off watching a video. it may return me to the first episode or to one several episodes ago. someetimes it does remember and then I am pleasantly surprised.

    We're here to share new steps that might help resolve issues with Continue Watching and Watch Markers on web browsers:

    1. If you are using Chrome, check that you have the Chrome AdBlock toggled off or that Viki.com is added to the list of 'Allow' sites. Copy this into your browser: chrome://settings/content/ads?search=ad
    2. If you've turned off AdBlock but the issue still persists, please try this step: Go to your browser toolbar -> Click or find your AdBlock icon -> Select the Whitelisted websites tab -> Enter litix.io (one of our domains) and click Add Website -> Close the tab.

    To receive updates for this issue regarding Continue Watching and Watch Markers, you can click on the 'Follow' button at the top of this thread.

  • I have had this issue for quite sometime now. Once I was asked by the staff what show I was watching?  It didn’t matter because it happens on multiple shows. Hope you guys fix this soon. Also the “continued watching” section never gets updated. It displays shows that I have watched many months ago and not recent ones.

    Even me also facing same issues, some time i have watched 10 eppisode partial but instead of showing that it will show i have watched till 4th, facing same issue with mobile, tv and web browser as well.
    Tried clearing cache no luck.

  • I am having the same issues, that it would not save what i was watching  and error 500 it says O no! something went wrong with a picture of a dog. Please fix this soon.

  • My progress isn't being saved on the web browser or app and this makes it really hard to use viki. I have to rely on memory to find where I left off. Is there going to be a fix for this?

  • I'm really tired of this Continue watching bug. How hard can it be to fix it? You have been dealing with this bug for years. There was a thread in 2021 about the same issue, and now again? I think I'm going to stop using Viki when I finish my drama until you really can get it fixed.

  • To be honest. I like the people. The so called tech team not great. They don’t tend to listen to complaints. When you actually give them ways to fix it. I actually know what I’m talking about. They don’t fix the problem at hand. For example when they did this so called update. Nothing has changed still had the same problems as before. All the update did was basically deny people access. So you guys don’t hold your breath likely nothing will be done.

  • This bug seems to come and go for no reason.  A few days ago, the "Episode Progress Bars" were working fine.  Today, without my touching anything, they have disappeared.  I don't think this bug is related to any particular show or device or what the user does.  It appears to be a systemic bug in VIKI, that comes and goes most likely when something else is modified by the VIKI software team.  SUGGESTION:  After every software modification by VIKI programmers, first test that the "Episode Progress Bars" still work before pushing the changes.  And give it a consistent name like "Episode Progress Bar" not misleading names such as "Continuous Watching" and "Watch Markers" or some other random name, which appear to be something completely different.

  • This is quite frustrating, I am still having this problem. I am close to unsubscribing because it is a waste of my money to feel so annoyed every time.

    Still no modification on my side either. It dooesn't record anything now, nor the show I've show I've watched nor where I am in a series...

    My solution:

    1/ Create a collection: "Currently Watching Shows"

    2/ When you access your collection, there's a small box for each show where you can write a personal comment. Just note there which last episode you've entirely seen or the episode and the time at which you stopped.

    2.b/ If you have an account on Mydramalist, which is the case for many if not most viewers on Viki, you can also keep track of your progress there.

    It's not ideal but I've been using this method for months now... I sort of have given up on Viki ever resolving this issue...

    I'm not going to mention on which streaming site... But I'm using another legal streaming website which problem is... the subtitles are often too fast or some are just skipped and you have to rewind everytime in order to see the subtitles... except let's say you need the last 15 seconds, you have to rewind for 45 seconds because the subtitles don't immediately show up... 

    Yes Viki should resolve this progress bar issue... but at least the viewing experience is not impacted...

  • Experiencing the same problem with "From Now On, Showtime!" kdrama. It doesn't even show up as an option to continue watching despite being 4 episodes in. And of course, no progress is shown on the episodes themselves. Viki team, I hope you will consider re-investigating this bug and fixing it. Thank you!

  • I just started experiencing this issue recently. I'm 10 episodes into Heroes and none of my progress is saved on any episode, and it's not showing up in Continue Watching. I have turned off ad blockers and cleared cache, watching on Firefox. I am a paid subscriber. Please prioritize this issue!

  • I'm experiencing this issue right now. I've watched about 4-5 episodes of AO Haru Ride and none of my progress has been saved. Then I just tried most of the solution above at tried playing an episode.. but still no progress. Then I added litix.io to the list.. I first nothing, but the I went to choose an episode manually and then I saw that it actually had saved the one episode that I just played! I then went back to the dramas front site.. and it actually remembered the episode.

    so if you have this issue.. make sure to try whitelisting the: litix.io
