[Solved] Issues with FireTV stick (Hangs on FF and does not update data play position from other devices)

I have noticed a problem over the last few weeks when using both the 4K and standard Firesticks where they do not update the episode location data when switching from the Roku based product.  If I am 20 minutes into episode 5 on Roku, the firestick will resume the drama on episode 3 at 45 minutes, which was where I had previously stated watching on the Roku.   Sometimes, I can overcome this by navigating to other menu items and back, which seems to cause the stick to update the location data before starting playback.    

 

Also I have noticed on both versions of the fire stick that if I press FF repeatedly, without allowing the video to catch up, the video playback will hang displaying a spinning circle.  I can still navigate menus, but once the circle has appeared, I cannot play any videos without resetting the Fire stick or launching enough others apps to cause the Viki app to be reset.   Pressing the FF button 5 times in a row without pause will nearly always cause the problem.

 

I am powering these devices from approved power sources, not plugged into TV USBs.

  • Also, I have a 1GB internet connection.   I am seeing no such problems on the Roku product at either 1K or 4K.

    Thanks for writing in to us.

    The forward/rewind issue on Fire TV devices is a known issue and the fix will be out on Version 2.6 of the app that is slowly being rolled out. Do keep a lookout for it!

    As for the episode location data issue, our team is still looking into it but there is no timeline set for a fix yet. We're sorry for the inconvenience caused and suggest to use the workaround you've found in the meantime. Rest assured that we will let you know if there are any updates on this.
