Download videos for offline watching
-What?
It would be great if you were able to download videos with a specific subtitle on the mobile app. The video download could have an expiration date where you could only have it download for a specific number of days. Say, 30 days.
-Why?
You would be able to watch the video whenever you wanted when you don’t have internet. So you’re never without your drama fix. And you could watch it when you have free time on the train or on the bus or anywhere.
-where?
It could be on the “Me” tab on the mobile app. Or it could be a separate section on the home page. Titled downloads.

Hello everyone!
We're glad to say that we've just started releasing this feature!
To ensure that it works smoothly (and that our team has time to work on any possible bugs and improvements), Offline Viewing would only be available in certain regions for now. But do keep a lookout as we'll be gradually rolling it out to more users :)
You may view more details and updates for Offline Viewing on this article. Do note that a Viki Pass Plus subscription or Rental title is required.
If you encounter any technical issues with this feature, please send details (screenshots included) to our Help Center at bit.ly/VikiHelp and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Michelle
This option is available on other major streaming sites. It would be nice if Viki had the same option.
That is sad. That was the first feature I looked for when I was about to purchase but backed out because there is nothing. Another website has it and I am loving it. Only premium subscribers are able to download it hence no sharing allowed.
I wanted to suggest the same.
It would be so nice to watch the currently kdrama on road, everytime and everywhere.
I hope VIKI would be offer this option to download episodes for a few days to watch them offline.
I agree. Other major streaming sites do this and I live on a property where we have several buildings and the building I live in is old and doesn't have the ability to have wifi so I go to another building to download stuff to watch for later. It'd be nice if Viki had this in their plus plan. I'd pay the extra five dollars for it. It's such a nice feature. It's nice for people like me who have limited access to internet or for people who have limited data plans and commute a lot. I think that Viki will do this one day to keep up with their competitors.
It can be done so that piracy is prevented. They can lock it so that you can only access the videos through the Viki app even if you are offline. This way people can download videos in the app and be able to watch offline through the app.
Offline viewing has my vote, I am a Viki sub for several years but I am using Amazon prime dramafever more these days since they allow time limited downloads for my use in the subway or on the road, also their app doesn't buffer or lag at all.
I remain an avid Viki fan for their better quality user provided subs and the timeline comments but am increasingly disappointed with old shows dropped off, unclear which is regular memebers vs kocowa and the inability to use offline
Viki, anyone listening, we are rooting for you but you need to catch up to the competition
I'm using this feature in Netflix a lot. It's great to save data or when you go somewhere without internet access.
Piracy shouldn't be a problem since you can only access and watch the videos via app and don't download them as video files on your device that can be played by a third party app.
It would be great if we also could choose which quality (SD/HD) to download and which subtitles.
This is an extremely important feature VIKI is lacking. As someone who travels a lot, I have to download shows from Netflix for the airplane, so I am not using Viki until I finish the new show I started on Netflix. If i could download at least a few episodes at a time on Viki, I wouldn't have a reason to use Netflix.
It will be great if you add this options...
This is the only think that stop me to pay my subscription.
For the rest its an amazing page and app
I loved Drama Fever for the ability to download episodes on my commute, which is mostly underground. It's frustrating that Viki also doesn't offer this option. My drama watching and use of Viki would skyrocket if I had access to the episodes outside of streaming.
Since Viki developers don't want to address this issue, you can use the Viu app and download your show there. There are far fewer series there but it's better than nothing.
The best way to incorporate Downloading is via the Mobile app. Just like the Netflix App where you can download shows and movies for offline watching. The movie or show is stored within the App only and is not a file that you can share with other people. This way it still encourages the subscription to be able to download the shows to be able to watch them Offline.
Which by the way would be an amazing feature for those who travel very often and want something to watch on planes and such.
DramaFever no longer an option. Please don't go away, Viki.
I need DramaFever back!!!! I do travel a lot!!
What a bummer. I'm going to travel 13h by bus and train this weekend and was looking forward to watch some dramas during that time. But without that offline feature this will probably be pretty hard, because wifi on public transportation isn't great and also limited... Please consider implementing this feature, Viki! ._.
I was a viki subscriber. I purchased the yearly plan thinking it had the download and view offline feature. Was very disappointed and sad when I found out it didn't. at the same time I had also subscribed to dramafever. Rarely used viki. once the subscription renew came up cancelled. Now I use prime and netflix. I really like the selection viki has but I wish it had offline viewing. once it does I will happily sign up for the yearly plan.
I'm a subscriber to Viki and it would be amazing to have a download option. It would make it easier to watch my drama on the go and when I travel.
Please add, I would love it
I think we should be able to do this aswell. Netflix has this option, you can only download it to your device but you can't transfer the file as it is a temp file and it forces you to watch it only on the device itself .. you cannot transfer the downloaded file to watch anywhere else.
Many other sites and apps have this option, Viki may start losing clients because their options are limited and will only watch it at home... Or when ever they can find wifi and that leaves u very limited
So still not able to watch offline??? I pay monthly premium but still not available to watch offline???!!!!
I've been a premium member of Dramaload for years, just because i like the download feature. Seldom do i have good, constant internet.
I joined Viki to access to Japanese and Chinese drama, but with no download feature, not much value.
I hope we can download the drama and can watch offline same as netflix. That would be amazing, that you can watch your favorite drama on the go
It would be an amazing feature to have. It doesn't necessarily mean that you only need to download the show once, If viki wanted to make sure that people don't just download it and share, they could do something similar to netflix where you can download only within the app from phone and that the download has a time limit at the end of which, if you want to keep watching, you have to re download the show. Something like that would be amazing to have. It would encourage me to use the phone app more if it had these features available rather than trying to find other sites to download it from.
I have been following this post for 2years and Viki has yet to follow up or respond . Do they even read this?!
I've been paying for membership for over 4 years now. I'm seriously considering stopping. I can never watch on the go. Only at home. What is the point of having an app on my phone then?!
Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video all allow temporary downloads. Why shouldn't Viki?
If you have AP subscription you would know that although you can download shows for offline watching they cannot be shared because you can only watch them through the AP app and they are tied to your account. Plus Viki can always only offer this feature to paying subscribers.
In apps like IQIYI, the downloads don't get saved on the device. They are only available on the app... If you delete the app, the videos also get deleted. You can't share with friends also.
Offline watching is pretty standard now on all major streaming apps! There are even Free apps like Vudu that let you download content. This should definitely be a feature for paying customers. Very disappointed it's not an option.
They should implement it right now, so that they can attract more customer here, because you can watch and download other site for free
The only reason I didn't subscribed VIki is this one, because I can't watch offline.
