Ability to censor profanity from translation text
I primarily watch Asian period dramas and one of the things I enjoy the most is that they are mostly clean (free from profanity, graphic violence, and overt sexuality). It is almost impossible to find quality shows for adults (especially in my country) that are not intensely derogatory.
However, there are a few of these dramas that do have profanity. With technology becoming more advanced there are tools today that allow users to “turn on” a profanity filter, with no additional work by the translation team (ex: Stream Clean, etc). Therefore, I would like to suggest a feature that allows users to select a censored experience from their profile to be applied to all shows. Using technology, it can remove profanity completely in the written translation (and maybe the audio, but it will be a long time before I am that proficient :).
With a quick scan of the transcript, technology could search and replace any curse word with “[expletive]” or something similar. At least in the historical dramas, I have yet to see where the reading of profanity is critical to shows meaning or value.
Thank you for any consideration you may give to my feature idea (please upvote!) and thank you to your team and hardworking translators.
