[Solved] Roku - Subtitles not showing up

Subtitles not showing up for two days. anybody else having this problem. The episodes say they are 100% in English and the little box with the subtitles is blue which leads me to believe that’s the subtitles should be showing

    Our engineers have gotten back to us and this subtitles issue on Roku has been fixed. Please try to log out and log back in to your Viki account on your Roku device before trying again.

  • Yes! This is happening to me too! But, only on my TV. If I use my phone or computer, the subtitles are there. I uninstalled the app, unplugged the TV and Roku, logged out and back in and still, the subtitles are missing

  • I sent an email to Viki Help Support . I'll post a comment here if I get any answers. Thanks to everyone who posted as it is nice to know it's not just me.
    So these are the troubleshooting steps I have attempted that they usually ask you to do:
    To make sure this is not an app problem:
    Logged out from my Viki account.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled the Viki app from my Roku.
    Turned my device off and on again.
    Restarted my home internet network.
    Logged back into my Viki account

    And this did NOT solve the problem 😪

  • Hi, I heard back from Viki, there is a work around but for me to get it to work when I tested it, I had to so this on each episode to make the subtitles "appear" again.
    Go to the video.
    Once it starts, on your remote control, press * (asterisk).
    The video will pause and a pop-up menu will appear.
    Scroll down to Caption track and select 2 of 2 (English).
    Once this is done, scroll down and select Close to exit the pop-up menu. The EN subtitles should appear after this.

  • This worked for me also but I have yet to check if I have to do this for each episode . I think Viki should fix this for those of us who subscribe!

  • Same issue. Trying to watch Rooftop Prince.

    It a casting issue. I can see the subtitles on my phone, but they disappeared when I cast it to my TV.

  • This isn’t working for me. There isn’t a 2 of 2 English option on youth of may, English is both the first and sixth option on caption tracks. Neither work. Anyway to watch this drama on Roku?

  • je ne sais pas trop ce qui se passe avec l'application depuis avant hier les sous titres sont en anglais seulement j'arrive pas à modifier j'ai demander de l'aide pffff rien même les séries que j'ai déjà regardé sous titre français ne s'affiche plus qu'en anglais. Besoin d'aide

    We are sorry that you're experiencing issues with the subtitles while watching newly added episodes/movies on Roku. 

    For the time being, we have found a workaround that you can try so you can watch the shows with the subtitles:

    1. Go to the video.
    2. Once it starts, on your remote control, press * (asterisk).
    3. The video will pause and a pop-up menu will appear.
    4. Scroll down to the Caption track and select 2 of 2 (English).
    5. Once this is done, scroll down and select Close to exit the pop-up menu. The subtitles should appear after this.

    We're currently working with our engineers to roll out a fix for the issue. Thank you for your patience and we will let you know if there's any update.
