[Closed] Learn Mode

Learn mode is not working for me on dramas that have 100% captions for both English and Korean. I have the option to turn learn mode on, however it does not work and I only see the English subtitles.

  • Please prioritize the fix for Learn Mode.  It hasn't been working properly for quite a few months.  This is the advertised feature that I liked and the reason I paid to support viki.

  • This is the same problem for me. I turn on the "Learn Mode" feature (for Korean movies and series) and only the English subtitles appear.

    I've tried signing out/in, emptying cookies/cache, changing web browsers, changing the subtitle arrangements, etc... nothing works. This is not for just one title. "Learn Mode" hasn't worked on any of the series I've tried it on except for that first one I watched.

    Friends of mine recommended Viki to me and I was excited by the selection of titles offered. One of the key reasons I decided to sign up for/pay/support viki was the impressive "Learn Mode" feature. I really enjoyed "Learn Mode" on the first series I watched that had the "Learn Mode" working with both the Korean and English subtitles. But none of the titles I have watched since that first one have had a functioning "Learn Mode" feature. It's quite disappointing. 

    When the series shows that "Learn Mode" can be activated I toggle it to "on", but no matter what I do I only get one subtitle language (English only, not English + Korean). 

    I hope Viki teams are able to fix "Learn Mode" for all the titles that "offer" it as an option.

  • Hi,

    I got the same problem on iOs (iPad).
    If I switch on "learn mode", I got a popup like "not available at the moment".
    The same series/episode on a laptop is working correctly with learning mode.

  • Is learn mode still dead? I can't get it to work. I was about to purchase a subscription and one of the biggest features isn't working.

  • What do you mean " Learn Mode will not be fixed anytime soon"
    more than 1 year to solve a problem on one of your main reason most of the people want ??? What a shame

    I am wondering what the updated status is on this issue, I used to use this feature all the time and it is one of the best tools to learn Korean, I'm hoping that it can be prioritized because I know so many people, including myself love to use it!

    I am also wondering if there have been any status updates to this? I love Viki and all of its content and I believe that Learn Mode sets it apart from other streaming apps. I, and I'm sure other users, would love to be able to utilize this feature again soon.

  • Can learn mode at least be fixed to show both subtitles? Even if the pausing and definitions don't work it's better than nothing. Really unfortunate since double subtitles aren't available on other platforms like netflix either. And if chromecast could show double subtitles that would be even better, it's one of the main features I look forward to using on viki

  • It worked the first time I saw a tv series, now after that, nothing. I was seriously considering subscribing to this since I havent wrote or spoke Japanese in several years and would pick up everything very fast if I had both subtitles on to understand context and nuisances but only if this worked at all but guess not...

  • So disappointed that the learn mode is not working, was quite excited to use the learn mode as it was one of the reasons, I brought a freaking laptop! To learn the language with easy. I hope they solve the problem soon.

  • Literally joined after a long time partly because i wanted to use the learn tool and it turns out its not working... will just cancel and rejoin when you fix it, its ridiculous its not been working since 2021. I guess my bad for not looking it up before subscribing.

  • Please prioritize learn mode. A lot of language learners join and recommend viki because of this feature. This was the main reason I joined VIKI. It's 2023 and it's still isn't fixed..

  • June 2023 soon and still the issue hasn't been solved. It's already been two years. I'm still waiting. But I think I'm losing my hope and my patience. When are you going to solve it ? It's your biggest feature, and one of the reason I'm watching dramas on Viki... I don't think there is another bigger problem to solve right now. So please consider seriously solving that issue, or in 10 years it still won't be resolved.

    I, too, am upset and frustrated that for over 2 years now, Learn Mode has not been working and Viki says they will not prioritize fixing it. 

    Therefore, I kindly ask everyone who has commented and those who see this post to click on the up arrow to vote for it (as shown in the attached image).  So that, Viki can see that there are many people interested in getting the Learn Mode back to work even better than before. 

    I also would invite you to keep pushing for us to be heeded. Since we, the subscribers, deserve to be heard and that when it is a rational request, they will listen to us and solve the problem or improve things. 

    In this case, I think that what we are asking for is something fair and rational that is for the improvement of the platform, and the improvement of the user experience.

  • I just cancelled my subscription because Learn Mode still isn't working. This was the only reason I used Viki instead of other platforms. I don't understand why this problem is not being fixed.

    I don't even need the fancy features like the definitions or rewinding a sentence. All I need are the double subtitles...

  • Just started watching dramas again after 6 years. I logged into my Viki account today and for my surprise, literally the best feature; The Learn Mode is not working anymore, from what I´ve read for a couple of years, it`s really disappointing that the platform does not care to fix it.
