[Solved] Roku Layout changes

I have Viki on Roku in the US and WHAT did they do to the homescreen layout? My "continue watching" only plays the rest of the episode I was on and stops. No next episode option. The categories (which were at the top) are GONE. I watch Viki daily and it was not like this yesterday...anyone else?

  • Same here. It is almost impossible to find anything. Bring back the old format, it wasn't broken so why fix it.

  • Bring back ability to sort by country. It's available online, why not in Roku app? Why are you taking away useful features?

  • I’m having the same issue with the new layout. We cannot browse by genre or country no more. My mom relies on that feature to find shows to watch. She’s 69 years old. We both use an iPad and Roku. My mom says it’s not worth the monthly subscription if she cannot find shows to watch unless you know the name of the drama. Why was it taken away?

  • I agree not worth the money if I can't find the type of shows I want. I adore Viki, but I won't pay for something I can't use as intended.

  • New format is bad very aggravating and searching is convoluted and not precise. Are they going to change back to a working format. Not what I am paying for

  • I will be cancelling my subscription if this new format remains.

  • So annoying! What’s the point of a continue watching list if I have to search for the show to get to the next episode. Not worth the headache.

  • Hi all,

Our team is aware of the feedback from the new Roku Channel update:

    • No Explore feature to search for shows and filter results with genre, country, etc.
    • Autoplay does not work
    • The next episode button is missing from the video page
    • Episodes are sorted from oldest to newest

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and please bear with us while our team looks into making improvements. Updates will be shared on this thread!

    Thank you,
    Michelle

  • I replied to another post that is now closed. I really dislike the updated app; it isn't useful, I can't find anything unless I directly search for a title, the Continue Watching does not continue watch, and there is no By Country filter. The new app seems to direct to mostly Mainland Chinese shows, which I never watch. Like other users, I would consider leaving the service for this. Viki is no longer watchable. Who in the world though this horrid design was a good idea???

  • On top of all the states complaints above with the roku update it appears they also removed trailers to the shows. Is this just me?
I watch trailers to decide if it's something I'm interested in but now they're not available anywhere. These new updates are really not user friendly at all

  • Please restore the original home page with country & genre selections. Not sure if this is coincidental but when the home page changed all 3 dramas I’ve been watching became stuck at last episode watched & there’s no option to manually select the next episode- or any episode. I started this subscription this past December & paid in full for the an entire year— if your team can’t resolve these issues very soon, I want to be reimbursed for the next 10 months remaining in my subscription.

  • Please restore the Roku app to its previous version.  The current version is barely usable.  I used to be able to explore shows and movies to find something interesting, but not more.  Are you trying to drive us all to use Netflix now? I honestly won't renew Viki if the features of the previous version are not restored.

  • Glad I read these. I had spend a lot of time reloaded Viki: thought that my ROKU had gone bad.

Please bring back the old version. Really hate the new one.

  • Don’t really like the kocowa app interface either but maybe it is time to switch.
The new Viki interface is crap. Why can’t they do a roll back?

  • Good day Viki Support Team. The video playing in my app is too large so there is no navigation button on it. Just the videos and the font of the subtitles are too large. The experience online via laptops is much better. Please fix the issues as soon as possible. Regards .

  • I would also like to add that the Followed Shows link is also gone. Prior to the Watchlist being introduced last year, the Follow Show was where stuff you wanted to watch was stored, so now on the Roku app, I no longer have a list of shows that I had saved since I began subscribing years ago.

  • Please bring back the old layout where you can see the country, genre and how many episodes when you hover over the dramas. I'm not interested in a brief synopsis. I would rather know what country and genre the drama is.

  • Please bring back old layout fast. I mostly watch Viki and due to the horrible layout and not being able to find shows is upsetting. When I go to a show instead of it showing the last episode first, I have to scroll though hundreds of episodes until I get to the latest. Why would you change such a great thing…

  • Please bring back the old layout, it was much more intuitive and clearer to find things. Also, everything is so tiny now and hard to read. And if you have multiple people watching (ie my mother as well) it's impossible to find what we were watching.

This new layout actually feels like a backwards step. Previous layout was modern feeling and smart looking. . . now it's like the page has gone back in time and just backwards. You're previously layout was one of the best app layouts I've seen across all the apps I used. This one..... yeah, just no.

  • Also just to add, not only is it extremely uncomfortable with the new layout and the fact that shows are starting over (I’ve had this problem for months) but now I can’t even skip to the next episode. So this means I have to go search the show and scroll the the 400+ episodes to find my last episode. I also agree that having the country and genres, etc was better. I wanted to watch a movie today and didn’t even know where to go find just movies at. There’s no option so I just went to another streaming app instead.

I’m not saying to bring the old Viki back since you guys are trying to do different things but please make it so that it’s easier to navigate to different genres, countries and movies/dramas.
Thanks for all that you do!

  • Hi Viki,

I would also like to add to the comments, that the wording on the new update on the Viki Roku app is small and hard to read especially for older viewers like my mom. Outside of that, I agree with all of the comments about the unfriendliness of the updated interface.

    Thank you!

  • This new view is terrible. All of the above comments are accurate. I like being being able to scroll the available movies/dramas (like Netflix) without searching for something specific. Really awful!!

  • Just adding my voice to the mix. We watch Viki daily, it is our main (almost only) source (we do not use netflix). Please bring back the sort by country, as well as other features several people have mentioned already. We can not easily browse to find shows this way. It makes Viki look like they lost 70% of their content.

  • I'll add to the chorus- I absolutely despise the new Roku "update". I agree with all of the above comments- no filter by country, no ability to scroll through shows, trailers are gone.... and to add insult to injury- the aspect ratio on the home screen is wrong. Now only half of the left side menu makes it on to the screen, and preview boxes for shows look stretched out.

I'd love instructions for how to reinstall the old Roku app. Note to Viki- try testing things first before you launch an international fail like this update... the Roku Viki app is unusable.

  • What a HORRIBLE Viki Roku update!

Whatever team designed this new format need to be fired and hire some people that actually care what the customer does or does not want.

I can't imagine how many Viki customers will be lost because of this lousy Viki Roku update.

Started looking for another streaming site to replace Viki last night.
