[Closed] All KOCOWA dramas now locked to Viki Standard Pass?

Am I correct in my observation that all Kocowa (KBS, MBC. SBS networks) dramas are now locked to Viki Pass Standard users in the USA, as of a few days ago? Previously newer dramas were available to view after 365 days from the original on-air dates, but now it’s never available to us? I also notice older Kocowa dramas also are locked, so may I ask for confirmation: Viki Pass Standard users in the USA will no longer have ANY access to Kocowa dramas, ever? I’d appreciate clarification, thnx.

To other Viki users experiencing issues of being locked out of a drama, check the name of the drama’s TV network on the main page, if it is KBS, MBC or SBS networks that means it is a KOCOWA licensed drama.

    Hi all,

    We've recently made changes to our content lineup. Starting on August 6th, 2020, the Kocowa catalog of shows as well as selected Viki shows will require either a Viki Pass Standard or Plus subscription to access. 

    We attempted to contact users who were currently watching these shows over email to let them know about the change, however, we discovered that our email did not reach you due to a glitch in our system. We sincerely apologize for this error and are working hard to ensure this does not occur again.

  • I was wondering what happened.  I know that they sometimes rotate the locked shows, but this is ridiculous.  I thought it was their way of making people pay for the upgraded all access pass.

  • It appears that many other Viki Standard Pass users, including myself, experienced this problem.  However, Viki has not responded to the inquiries....  They should have at least given us a timely heads-up.  It is very disappointing that they take away shows when people are in the midst of watching them without any warning!  I understand that sometimes they may change their content, but this bait and switch is unacceptable.  Hope Viki addresses this issue soon.

  • I experienced the same thing so I upgraded my account from VIKI Standard to VIKI Plus but, after paying all that money to VIKI, I am still NOT able to watch any of the PLUS shows.  I sent several emails to Michelle and her colleagues but they did not respond to me.  I am very disappointed in VIKI and feel that I have just thrown my money to them for nothing.  I wonder if there is any other site for Korean and Chinese dramas besides VIKI.

  • Happened to me as well. Not only the Korean drama, some Chinese TV drama as well such as "Song of Glory". Don't know whether I will pay for the Viki Pass Plus

  • I am having the same problem getting anyone to respond. And the lack of shows to watch is getting ridiculous. There were 3 or 4 that I was watching and now they are locked. 

    Kissasian.sh is a website that has many Kdramas, Chinese dramas, movies, etc. We have been using that since we don't have access to a lot of the ones on here. Right now we are watching 3 different ones (Woman of 9.9 Billion, Abyss, and The Game:Towards Zero). The only issue are dealing with captshas, a few small page ads, and a redirect once in awhile. It's worth it to be able to watch episodes for free.

  • I am currently paying 9.99 for Kocowa but I am not able to use account on my phone. Why is that. I sign in but I am being asked to subscribe again.   I am still NOT able to watch any of the PLUS shows. this is very annoying. You are taking my money and I want service
