I haven't been using the app that long, but I watched 2 titles using my phone and sharing the screen with my LG smart TV without problem, but now all the shows that I tried to watch show a black screen, but you can see the subtitles and listen to the udio through the TV. If I play the 2 previous shows I watched there's no problem. Can this be fixed or is a license issue? I have a standard viki pass

    Hi heiskaba,

Apologies for missing out your issue!

As Miracast doesn't support DRM, it is likely the reason why you are having playback issues with certain videos while mirroring your screen to your LG TV.

We're glad to hear that you managed to install the Viki app directly on your Android TV since then though.

    Hi kapoortania0_66,

As mentioned to heiskba above, you might face issues mirroring to your TV if you are not using Chromecast.

We recommend getting a Chromecast Device to cast to your TV. Alternatively, you may use a supported Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Android TV device to watch on your TV. View our supported apps here

    Hope this clarifies now.

  • Hi there,

Thank you for writing in to us.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing this issue on the Viki app.

Could you first please try the following:

    1. Log out from the Viki app
    2. Delete and Reinstall the Viki app
    3. Log back in to Viki

If this does not help resolve the issue, could you please provide me with the following helpful information:

    1. Does this occur on all shows? If not, please let me know the specific shows and episodes you're having problems with (ex. "Chicago Typewriter" Episode 2)
    2. What version of the Viki app are you using? You can find it on the app settings.
    3. How are you sharing the screen to your TV via? Chromecast?
    4. Screenshot of the issue or the error message you see.

I look forward to helping you soon.

  • Thank you Michelle for your prompt response.

I did as you recommended but the problem continues.

I have a Huawei phone that allows me to share my screen with my LG smart TV. I don't use chromecast.

As I told you before, I'm able to see the subtitles and listen to the audio through the TV, but the image is only broadcast on my phone.

It happened with all the episodes of The girl who sees smells, the legend of the blue sea, and with kill me, heal me. However I just watched Hotel del Luna without problems.

    I have the 5.8.0rc-1 version.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

    Best regards.

  • Hello! got the same issue with my macpro, but fixed it already...check the browser on your android tv, it should be the same browser that your phone had...for ex: if google chrome in your tv you should also use google chrome on your tv is samsung and it's using google and my mac is using safari browser and the problem is no video when i mirror them though there is sound and subtitle on it but when i change the safari to google in my mac the problem was solved...hoping that this one helps though it's 7 months late...

  • The reason I'm having to screenshare in the first place is because the apps on my LG and Samsung amart TV's keep stalling out, making it impossible for me to watch. But screenshare from various devices won't work either on either brand of TV. I shouldn't have to buy another device to watch on if I already have TWO brands of Smart TV's. Lesson learned: don't pay for an annual subscription. Thought I'd also mention, I have never had any difficulty streaming Netflix, Apple TV, or Prime Video, so problem isn't on my end.
