[Closed] Missing english subtitles

"I picked up a Celebrity" is missing english sub's throughout. I've been experiencing this issue with various shows, since "The Last Empress" Episode 12 aired. Is this a ongoing technical glitch? Please provide feedback. Thank you so much / Viki Pass Subscriber.

    Thanks for writing to us. We see on our end that there are subtitles available on Ep 5 of "I Picked Up A Celebrity". 

    If this issue is occurring on the Viki website, please try the following to ensure it's not a browser issue:
    1. Log out from your account
    2. Clean the cache and cookies on your browser.
    3. Close the browser and restart it again.
    4. Log back into your Viki account
    5. Try again from another browser
    Alternatively, if you're experiencing this on a Viki app, please try deleting and reinstalling the app to see if it helps.
    If you continue to experience the same issue, please send me a full-monitor screenshot of the issue along with the names of the affected dramas and episodes.

  • If it's helpful to pinpoint the issue - Episode 5 is missing quite a bit, at least every third or so line.

  • Both episodes 5+6 were uploaded pretty late by Viki, it could be that the time of upload missed the time slot of segmenters and/or subtitlers. Therefore, it can take a longer, as it is possible that translators are doing translations on other channels too, which might have/will be uploaded in time.

    About missing lines, subtitlers will always only translate what they are sure about, they won't guess lines. Since some translators are no Korean native speakers or have skills at level C2 or B2, that's why they will leave questionable dialogue for those with better skills to fill out later.

  • Thank you for response, even if it came across as slightly condescending and self justified. I am aware that it does take some time for subtitles to appear in new content..  However, I was not aware that this particular show had been recently added.

    I tested your theory on a couple of the previous episodes and i don't believe this is the cause of my issue, as subtitles that were there before - are now missing. This could be a connectivity issue on my part, I'm not solely saying it's Viki.

    If it is how you say,  then I would assume community translation support has decreased these past couple of months... This was never an issue when I first subscribed; back in October, after DramaFever closed down.
