APPPLE TV VIKI - DUAL SUBTITLES ON LEGEND OF HAO LAN

On both Legends of Hao Lan and The Story of Ming Lan, the dual subtitles of Chinese and English make it impossible to see and is giving me a major headache.    I did not have this problem with the Story of Yanxi Palace.  Is there anything you can do, or I can do?  I went into Settings in Apple TV under Viki, but they only have check for what subtitle language you want, so I am not able to disable any modes.  Please help!  Thanks, Lily Eng

  Hi Lily,

  The Chinese subtitles you're seeing on Legend of Hao Lan and The Story of Ming Lan are hard subs that are ingrained into the source video. As such, they will always appear whatever subtitle language you choose.

  The Chinese subtitles do not appear for Story of Yanxi Palace as there are no hardsubs for this show.

  To make it easier for you to read subtitles for hardsubbed shows, what I can suggest is for you to add a background behind your subtitles by following the customization steps here.

  Hihiow this is late arriving but...

  i expressed a problem with subtitles recently and got some good info

  Go to settings/general/acessibility/media/subtitles,amd captioning on your iPhone to iPad. there you can black box your subtitles and increase the size and opacity ... This has made all the difference to my enjoyment of viki...

  even white subtitles on a light background are clear...
