[Solved] Viki app on tv won't login

I've been watching Viki through my tv for a while now (viki app through Google play app on Bravia tv),and have had no issue until yesterday.  Loaded up viki app and on initial splash screen a grey RETRY button appeared. Selected it but it would just reappear. Cleared cache on tv, made sure plenty of storage space and then uninstalled the app.

Reinstalled and can now get past splash screen but now, when I attempt to log in, instead of having to down arrow thru the login options of Facebook, Google+, etc to get to the email input, the login screen goes straight to the email login option and won't up arrow to them. That's fine because I use the email option but after I input my email and password (I logged in & out of viki app on my tablet to verify I'm entering correct info), after selecting NEXT after password input, instead of letting me select the LOG IN button, the only option it will allow me to chose is Not A Member and asks me to create an account. It won't even let me up arrow from the auto selectsed Not A Member option to the LOG IN option above it.  Uninstalled and reinstalled 3 time with no change. Please help.

  • I updated the app to ver. 2.1.1, same issue, still cannot login. It still takes me to "sign up", doesn't allow me to login. I'm having the same issue as well. The issue is not fixed yet here as well.

  • I'm having the same issue with VIKI APP in smart TV. It doesn't allow me to login as login function is not working at all. It takes me to sign up instead of login. And also, I cannot see any TV/Movies available in APP. I had the exactly same situation 6 months ago and Viki support team reached out to me months later because I opened a support ticket. Looks like this is happening from time to time. It would be greatly appreciated if it can be fixed as I am paying for the services!

  • I updated the app, verified it was the 2.1.1 version. Same login problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same login problem. Issue is not fixed, at least for me.

  • Hi jadesouthern_331 & hkamisono,

After checking, this login issue you're experiencing is only occurring on Sony Bravia TVs when you try to login with email and password directly on the Viki Android TV app.

The team is working on finding a solution for the issue.

In the mean time, what you can do is to login with the device code instead:

    1. Go to Sign In on the Viki menu.
    2. Select to login with Facebook, Google and Rakuten Login. A unique code will be generated
    3. Go to http://viki.com/androidtv. Make sure you are logged in (you may still login with your email and password on the website)
    4. Enter the unique code and click Link Now
    5. Confirm you have entered the code on the Android TV app. You're now logged in.

If you continue to experience problems logging in with the device code, please let me know.

    Cheers,
    Kristie

  • One part of the issue occurring is you don't have the option to select a different way to login ; Facebook, Google, etc. It takes you straight to email / password login only. And you can't move selection option to anything except email, password or not a member.

  • Sorry jadesouthern_331! I just checked and as it appears, version 2.1.2 is still in partial release, hence you're still not seeing it ^.^||

I'll update again once 2.1.2 has been fully released.
