[Solved] Recent use of taking God's name in vain in subtitles
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed an increase in the Subtitles taking God's name in vain. I have never had this problem before when using Viki so concerned why it has started all of a sudden. It has been happening with Lawless Lawyer and now with The Undateables. The odd thing is the same shows will bleep out words like s*** which I could handle but then have no problems taking God's name in vain by spelling out gd. If anyone else has noticed this and is also upset by it could you please contact the channel managers and Viki themselves to voice your concerns since there is no reason to include this type of language in the Subtitles. I have already had to stop using comments because of the use of this word along with horribly disgusting, sexually offensive and truly vile comments by some of the people that should honestly shock most people but not sure if I am the only one bothered by it or not. I have completely stopped watching American trash TV because of these issues mentioned above so very sad to see this stuff filtering into the Korean dramas as well.
Thanks for listening :-)

Hey layson1_970,
Subtitles are created by our volunteers translating dialogue as they hear it.
If you would prefer not to watch shows that include such words, what I can suggest is for you to read through the show reviews and ratings beforehand.
Best,
Kristie
Hi Kristie,
I agree and that is why I do not watch many movies due to the offensive language but my concern is that the subtitles are not correct and that word is being added incorrectly. I actually googled this word and when I listened to both the word and the video that word was not even said but yet was added to the subtitles. Also, the other swear words are bleeped out so why is this word not bleeped out since this seems hypocritical. I do not know of anyone who would complain about this word not being included even if it was correct so my concern is that a volunteer is adding that word on their own which needs to be addressed immediately but so far I have not received any response from my inquiries to the channel managers or Viki themselves.
Hi layson1_970,
What I can recommend is for you to use this extension mentioned by another user did that will blank out words you find offensive.
Best,
Kristie
