1. What is an unlicensed show? Are we able to view them? How?
2. How do I stop the comments on my phone? They can be very distracting a times.

Unlicensed Channel, this is a placeholder channel that is created in anticipation of upcoming shows that might appear on Viki.
As most of the subtitles for shows done on Viki are done by our Viki community, they require time to form teams for shows so that they will be ready to start subtitling the moment shows air. To allow users to gather and form the subtitling team, we create Unlicensed Channels in advance.
As licensing is a complicated business, we cannot license all shows, although the team definitely tries to! Since we can only license some shows, it thus becomes important to see what shows users are most interested in watching.
Of course, in addition to the number of users requesting a show, there are multiple other factors that play a part in whether or not we eventually manage to obtain the show, but the team will definitely try to prioritize licensing shows that have more users interested in watching them.
