  • Hi there,

Thanks for writing in to us.

Could you let us know how you are trying to stream to your Samsung TV? Is it via Chromecast, Airplay or other apps?

If you are using the Viki app, please try the following first:

    1. Log out from your account
    2. Uninstall and reinstall the Viki app from your device.
    3. Turn your device off and on again.
    4. Log back in to your Viki account by following the steps here.

Are you still having the same issues? If so, can you please provide the following information?

    1. What is the version of the Viki app are you using? You can find this information in the app settings.
    2. Which specific movies or episodes are causing this issue? Please give as many details as possible
    3. A screenshot/photo of the error message or issue.

    Best,
    Michelle

  • Hi mushroom_nguyen_525,

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue too.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. On your Apple TV, make sure that AirPlay is turned-on in Settings > AirPlay.
    2. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and check that you're on the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.
    3. On your Apple TV:
      • Apple TV (4th generation onwards)
        • Go to Settings > Network and check that you're on the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
      • Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
        • Go to Settings > General > Network.

Please also refer to this article to check that you are correctly connected to Airplay.

    Hope this works out!

If you're still facing issues, please take a screenshot of your missing Airplay connection.

    Cheers,
    Michelle

  • I hace a different Samsung issue. I am trying to mirror from iPad Viki app directly to Samsung 8 Series. I get sound, a frozen spinner, some commands, but no video. I am slap trying to direct connect the iPad to Samsung with an Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter. Same result. I get the iPad on the TV, I even see the Viki app menus. But when I try to stream, no video.

  • Hi thedoubtfulguests_847

If you are viewing Viki on your TV with your iOS device via screen mirroring or using an HDMI cable, some videos might run with a black screen and audio and subtitles in the background.

This is due to a security feature implemented by Apple and is something that we're unable to control for now until Apple makes some changes.

To circumvent this issue in the meanwhile, we recommend the following options:

    1. Use Chromecast.
    2. Use Android TV/Fire TV/Apple TV devices to stream to the TV

    Hope this clarifies!

    Best,
    Michelle

  • Other apps are working fine with airplay but why not yours? Even if security update is there we are paying for these videos legally, than why not working? Please figure out with apple or change ur app. Our money cant go waste like this. Having just one small screen to watch, not fair :(

  • Hello karishma9789_941 & adarsh_sinha404_846,

Viki only supports AirPlay viewing between iOS devices and Apple TV. If you are experiencing issues with Viki on AirPlay from an iOS device to a non-Apple TV device (eg. LG TV, Samsung TV), please know that we are currently unable to provide support for this.

We are aware that you may still be able to use AirPlay from your iOS device to a non-Apple TV device on other services/apps. However, other apps may be using other streaming protocols which we don't support.

We'd like to suggest that you take a look at our apps page for more up-to-date information on how else you can watch Viki, including information on our supported Connected TV devices. If you currently do not have any of the devices that we support, we’re glad to let you know that we do have more TV apps planned for the year. Once released, you'll be able to install it and watch Viki on your TV.

If you are experiencing issues with Viki while using AirPlay from an iOS device to an Apple TV, we suggest you take these troubleshooting steps before trying to AirPlay again. For any technical issues after, please send details (screenshots included) to our Help Center at bit.ly/VikiHelp and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thank you,
    Michelle
