[Closed] Flickering fullscreen in Macbook Pro

I watched several different dramas from Viki on my phone and my laptop. When I watch Lovely Horribly series on my phone everything was fine but when I watch full screen on my laptop (Macbook Pro) the image keep flickering. This only happens to this series as everything else is okay. It’s fine if I don’t watch on fullscreen but what’s the point of having to watch a small screen version if I’m uaing a laptop.

Please help.

  • I'm having the same glitchy screen issue on my Mac laptop as well, but it's for every show on Viki.

I've logged out, reloaded Viki completely & unfortunately it hasn't reset or fixed the issue at all.

Could this be another IOS issue? Hopefully Viki Support already has a fix, or can further assist in patches or reset of some sort.

  • Hi monkey31 & marge_madness,

As both of you are watching on Macs, could I check if you're watching on Safari web browsers as well?

If so, could you guys try watching on another web browser (ex. Chrome, Firefox) to see if it helps?

In addition, please send a issue report for the problem so that we can further troubleshoot it. You can send the report by taking these steps:

    1. At the bottom of the video player, next to the volume icon, go to Settings > Report Video Issues
    2. Check the relevant categories and write any additional details and click Submit. This will automatically send us useful information that will help us debug what might be causing the issue you're experiencing.

After submitting the report, please let me know.

    Cheers,
    Kristie

  • Thanks so much Kristie for your assistance in this. I have sent in the issue report following your instructions, & you are correct: watching Viki shows in another web browser (Firefox) actually works fine. Thanks again, & hopefully the Safari problem can be fixed soon.

  • Solution suggestion to viki web developer:

This also happens to videos on twitch too. The only resolution right now is to use a theatre mode like the one on twitch videos and then put it in full screen from the browser (under view menu), NOT from the the html5 video corner button.

An alternative solution is the youtube method, youtube used to have this issue on Mac, recently they updated it to go fullscreen by using browser function instead of html5, that's also why you can scroll down to comments even in fullscreen when watch youtube videos.

  • Hi there, still have the same problem watching videos full screen on Safari. The flickering stops when leaving the cursor on the "pause" button, but this means the menu stays in sight as well. Another temporary solution is watching with Firefox.

  • Hey guys,

Could you try if enabling hardware acceleration helps the issue?

You can refer to this article for instructions on how to enable hardware acceleration.

    Cheers,
    Kristie
