[Solved] Watch History Disappeared, Need Recovery Method

My watch history from today until August 2017 has completely disappeared. Even the drama's I had favorited between the two time frames are no longer favorited. It's almost as if I hadn't been active since August 2017 when I watch Viki programs practically everyday. 

Any idea what happened and how to get my history back?

I already did what the "Recover watch history" post suggested and logged out of the 2 devices I use to watch Viki shows (AppleTV and my MacBook Air). I cleared cache and cookies, even history in both Safari and Chrome...rebooted both computer and AppleTV several times and still, no go. 

It REALLY stinks that I cannot remember what episodes of shows I was currently watching.

Any ideas or suggestions?

  • Any idea what may have happened and if there's a fix? I initially thought maybe it was an AppleTV bug but once I logged in online, I noticed the history was missing from there also.

    It's currently not logging any history at all on what I've been watching even the past few weeks. 

    For reference, I've been watching What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Wok of Love and Pretty Man (Chinese version). 

    In the past, I've watched My Little Princess (China), While You Were Sleeping (SK), I Am Not A Robot and so many others.

    We haven't found the cause of this yet. The engineer is still looking into it.

    Thank you so much for your patience.

    We investigated this issue and we currently suspect it to be an issue with Apple TV specifically not saving Watch History.

    As you've been watching exclusively on Apple TV, hence the lack of Watch History on Apple TV and other apps.

    Just to confirm that this is an Apple TV-specific problem, could I check if your Watch History gets updated when you watch on other non-Apple TV devices?

    For example, check if your Watch History on viki.com website updates when you watch videos on viki.com itself.

  • That's a great idea!! Why hadn't I thought of that. :-P

    I'll start experimenting between the various electronics I have. I can use iPad, computer and then AppleTV. We have 3 AppleTVs, so hopefully it's just a fluke with one of them not updating and it could be that the new Home Screen Sharing option is causing an issue too. We'll see. 

    I'll investigate and inform when I can.

    I also cannot use Watch history feature. Is this something that is no longer available? I thought it was because I am using an  AppleTV box. Using on Ipad is the same  the history is also missing.

    As we're currently experiencing some problems with Apple TV Watch History, shows you watch on it will not appear in your Watch History, be it on the Apple TV app or on other Viki platforms.

    The team is working on releasing a fix for this in the coming Apple TV app. I'll update once the new Apple TV app is released. Sorry for the inconvenience!
